30 Minute Bread Sticks

These bread sticks are a family favorite. I received the recipe from a friend who brought them along with a dinner after my first baby almost 20 years ago (where does the time go?!). They are my favorite breadsticks not only because they are quick and easy, but they are delicious. You spread the dough out on a greased jelly roll pan and cut them before baking with a pizza cutter or knife. They are so quick and easy that the longest part of the recipe is waiting for the oven to heat!

RECIPE
1 1/2 tablespoons yeast
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
4 1/2 cups flour
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1 tablespoon parmesan cheese (just the green bottle)

Instructions:
Dissolve yeast in sugar and water. Add salt & flour and stir to combine. The dough will be soft and a little sticky, but not too sticky to handle. Set dough aside and use about 1 tablespoon of the melted butter to grease a jelly roll pan. Press the dough out to fill the entire pan. Pour the remaining butter on top of the dough to cover. Sprinkle onion powder, garlic powder, dried parsley and parmesan cheese on the top of the dough. Use a pizza cutter or knife to slice the dough into sticks. I usually cut them into sticks about 1 inch wide and then cut the entire tray through the middle so the sticks are shorter.
