Thanksgiving is Greg's favorite holiday. When we were first married I couldn't really understand why, but now I absolutely love it. I love being able to focus on gratitude! This year I especially love being able to reflect on things I am grateful for; it puts the difficulties in perspective and makes me happier. I think that part of being prepared involves having a heart that is prepared to face whatever life throws at you, and to me, gratitude is a great way to prepare for any eventuality.
With that in mind, my family often does some sort of gratitude activity in November. Some years we put paper leaves on a tree, or make a gratitude jar, but this year we decided to try something new. I printed a list of categories and cut them in strips.
Each member of our family has a set of strips and each night when we sit down to dinner we pull out a strip and write something we are grateful for from that category.
After we write on the strips, we form them into a chain. I hope that it will be a visual reminder of the many blessings we have been given.
